Shenandoah Sound

Who We Are

Shenandoah Sound was founded to advance the art of music through education in the marching drum and bugle corps tradition. Shenandoah Sound is an all-age drum corps based in Prince William County, VA, comprised of brass, percussion and guard performers with a passion to entertain. Each year we develop and perform a competitive field show at Drum Corps Associates (DCA) and DCA South events. We annually travel over 10,000 miles to compete in shows from Florida to New York and share our passion for drum corps.

The Corps is a member of DCA, an organization which oversees and promotes drum and bugle corps activity throughout North America. We are also a chartered Boy Scouts of America Venture Crew, which provides leadership opportunities for our young men and women ages 14-21.

What We Do

The corps appears in many local parades such as the 4th of July parades in the Baltimore area, the Apple Blossom parade in Winchester, VA and the Christmas Parade in Manassas. Our competitive season includes our home show, Sound of the South, and annual appearances in Georgia, Pennsylvania and New York. Our season culminates at DCA championships which will be held in Rochester, NY in 2014.

Who We Serve

As an education organization, we prepare many high school members to meet their goals of marching in a Drum Corps International (DCI) corps or continuing on to college marching bands and other performance organizations. However, as an all-age corps, we support and fulfill the performance desires of members of any age- our current membership ranges in age from 14 to 67.
