Born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, Bob Marsh graduated from Loras College with a BA in Philosophy in 1963. The following year, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 25 years, having served a number of assignments as Administrative and Personnel Officer. Among his stations were the Pentagon, where he served for The Inspector General of the Air Force and the Secretary of the Air Force.
Following his Air Force career, Bob was hired as the Court Administrator for the Prince William County Circuit Court. In this position he worked with a staff of 25 to support the five Judges of the Circuit Court. Upon retirement, he was honored to receive the Robert L. Marsh Public Service Award bearing his name, now given annually by the Prince William Bar Association to recognize non-attorneys who provide outstanding service to the public in serving the courts.
Bob and his wife Kathleen M. O Connell and have five children and 12 grandchildren and have called Prince William County their home since moving to Occoquan Forest in 1980. He has served on a number of Boards and Committees to include the Prince William County Jail Board, the Linton Hall School Board, the Disciplinary Committee of the Virginia State Bar, the Parish Council at Sacred Heart Manassas Catholic Church, the Occoquan Forest Home Owners Association Board, the Lifelong Learning Institute-Manassas (LLI-M) Board, the Education Committee of the Hylton Performing Arts Center, the Prince William County Arts Council, and currently as President of the Board for the Manassas Symphony Orchestra.
