Denise McPhail

Mrs. Denise McPhail is originally from Asbury Park, New Jersey. She holds a Bachelor of Individualized Studies degree in Performing Arts Management from George Mason University.

In 2002, Denise co-founded CAPAC, Inc. (The Creative and Performing Arts Center). Her vision was to provide a means of diversifying the arts and providing greater opportunities for an underrepresented community of theater professionals, artists, and audiences. CAPAC’s mission is to enhance education, life skills, and community harmony through the arts.

As the Executive Director, Denise invites budding and full-bloomed thespians to release their expressions through acting, singing, dancing, and creative writing. Under her leadership, five-star award-winning productions have been produced, to include “The Wiz” and “For Colored Girls…”

In 2012, for the first time, legendary choreographer, dancer, and actress Debbie Allen released the rights to her Grammy-award winning production “Dancing in the Wings” to CAPAC. CAPAC’s diverse cast garnered a five-star review from DC Metro Theater Arts.

Since 2010, CAPAC has performed at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, where CAPAC is a founding resident arts partner. Recently, CAPAC entered into a partnership with Charles J. Colgan, Sr. High School’s Center for the Fine and Performing Arts.

For nearly three decades Denise has worked for local government.
